July 4th Dessert Table!

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

This year for the Fourth of July I treated my guests to something special before our annual fireworks spectacular... a deluxe dessert table cheerfully decorated with a “Stars and Stripes Forever” theme!

A two tiered marble cake with buttercream frosting was the star of my dessert table! It sparkled with a topper I made using tinsel garland, a paper straw and a giant party circle I purchased from The TomKat Studio. The cookies were delicious and so easy to make. I dipped store bought sandwich cookies (Oreo Cakesters!) into melted chocolate and jazzed them up with red, white and blue sprinkles. They looked extra fancy when laid out on a platter lined with holographic scrapbook paper!

I made super sweet edible firecrackers by dipping jumbo marshmallows into melted chocolate and embellishing with patriotic sprinkles. These were such a hit with the kids, my 3 year old, Ella loved them! They were displayed in red glitter boxes with foam inside to keep them standing, I added the blue metallic tinsel to cover the foam insert.

My “Stars and Stripes Forever” dessert table was a huge success and I hope you’ll try creating a few of my tasty treats at your own Labor Day gathering!
