When my little sweetie Ivy Belle was turning one I knew I wanted everything to be special. I fell in love with the "Sweet Shoppe" themed party collection from The TomKat Studio and turned the party into an outdoor candy inspired wonderland.
We had a face painter, a homemade ball pit, an army of giant rainbow colored gingerbread men (each one hand made by my husband!), a "Gumdrop Pass", complete with sacks of gumdrops for the kids to discover, and of course a big candy display!
I decorated the trees with more than four dozen party coordinating honeycomb tissue balls and made table displays that looked like shopping totes. Even the music was candy inspired kids and their parents rocked out to "Lollipop", "Sugar, Sugar" and "I Want Candy". Kids took home jelly bean machine favors and bags of their favorite treats from the candy bar.
The party was a big success and kids of all ages loved it! My three year old Ella Rose was the best "customer" for the face painter, Karen Doyle, by the end Ella had her face and arms completely covered! (That's Ella with the blue unicorn on her face!) And Ivy was lucky enough to have THREE great grandmothers in attendance. Guests traveled from all over the state to be together to celebrate our Ivy's first birthday and that's what made our party truly sweet.
